Hello, welcome back!
In the last video, I brought you here to the automation builder, and I briefly talked about the settings at the top of the workflow builder.
Now, I want to bring your attention to where it says "Add a trigger" and then below it, there's a "+" sign.
To create an automation, think of this phrase: "When _____ happens, do _____"
Notice how there are 2 blanks. The first blank is there is the "trigger", and the second blank is the "action".
Let me give you a simple example to explain this.
Think of an air conditioner thermostat.
In my house, when the thermostat notices that the temperature in the house reaches 76 degrees Fahrenheit (24.44 Celcius), the air conditioner turns off.
This is a simple automation.
Again, think of the phrase: "When ____ happens, do _____"
In the case of the air conditioner, it would sound like this: "When the temperature reaches 76 degrees Fahrenheit, turn off AC"
That's how automation works.
There's a trigger that causes the automation to start, and then there's the action that happens.
Again, the temperature reaching 76 degrees is the trigger, and the action is that the thermostat turns off the AC.
Now, let's go back to the screen.
As you can see, it is self-explanatory. At the top, you add the trigger, and the "+" sign lets you add some action steps.
In the next video I'm going to go over some of the triggers that you can use in StudioHub, so that you can get a few ideas.
See you there!
