Introduction

Hello and welcome back!!!

In the last couple of videos, I walked you through the process of creating a brand-new form from scratch.

Before you complete your form and start using it, you want to do two final steps.

  1. You want to do a last check to ensure the form is built properly, and all the settings chosen.
  2. Test the form to ensure that the form is working properly.

Let's go through both of these steps together here in this video.

Checklist

Whenever you create a form, you want to follow this short 4-step checklist:

  1. Do a double-check of all the fields in the form to make sure that you're not missing anything.
  2. Make sure that you have the required fields selected
  3. Make sure that the form has a button to submit the form. Without this button, the form will not work.
  4. Check the "On Submit" settings to ensure it has a message you want people to see, or the URL that you want people to go to after they have submitted their form.

Once you go through the 4 steps above, the next step is to test the form to see if it's working properly.

Testing the form

To test the form, you want to open up the form and test it with a fake contact.

Let me show you how to do this.

{Fill out the form with fake contact information}

Once you fill out the form, you should be able to see the new contact created in your StudioHub account, under "contacts".

As a side note, if a contact you already have saved in StudioHub fills out the form with the same email as the one already saved in your StudioHub account, the information they fill the form out with will be saved in their contact.

However, if a contact you already have saved in StudioHub fills out the form with a different email than the one they already have saved in your StudioHub account, a new contact will be created for that person. This new contact created will have the information they fill out in the form.

With that said, I want to reiterate the lesson.

By testing your form, you will catch any glitches or mistakes with it, and be able to fix them before you send them to your contacts.

Conclusion

Again, anytime you build a form you want to go through the 4-step checklist to ensure the form is built correctly, and you want to test your form to ensure the form is working properly.

I want to warn you, though.  As the saying goes, if something is easy to do, it is also easy not to do it.

Those 2 last steps of going through the checklist and testing the form are easy to do, but also easy to forget, or take for granted.

I've definitely forgotten or disregarded this process of checking in the past and wondered why the form was not working many weeks later.

One time, I created a form that I used for hiring purposes. I spent over $500 on this job ad that was sending people to this form that wasn't built properly. I lost a lot of candidates because of it.

Learn from my mistake and follow the steps I walked you through today anytime you create a new form. It will save you money!

See you in the next video.
